Sometimes Shopping Can Be Fun…

So, I am the type that when I go grocery shopping, I tend to go to the same food aisles, end caps, section of the fresh food area…. I have been doing this for so long that I forget that there are other foods out there in the vast ocean of grocery stores aisles. The other day I had to go to Walmart to pick up a couple of ingredients to make Veggie Soup (I am so ready for Fall!) and while there decided to check out their seasonal section. I love Halloween and am always eager to see the new decorations, treats and of course the candies! I rarely see any artificial free holiday related anything at Wally World so most of the time I just don’t buy.

BUT, this time I wandered outside of my normal areas. I was truly surprised to find that Keebler has introduced a new line of cookies called “Simply Made” and lists the ingredients on the front of the package:

Keebler Simply Made Cookies

Keebler Simply Made Cookies

Not only are they dye free, but free from other nasty artificial ingredients and preservatives! I was a little hesitant to try them because most “simply” made foods are bland. I figured if I just bought one and the family didn’t like it it wasn’t a huge money loss.

Well I can tell you this now…. they are delicious! The texture, shape, smell is just what a chocolate chip cookie is supposed to be like…. but it gets better…. they have other flavors in their Simply Made line like Cookies N Cream, Butter and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip!!! So if you are looking for a better replacement for the “other” artificial laden cookies, then give these a try.
It looks like food manufacturers are starting to listen to us! After years of eating tasteless “artificial free” blah blah foods, I think I can finally venture outside the zone.

Happy Eating Everyone!

Zevia to the rescue!

Zevia Dye Free
I Can Drink Again!
Anyone that knows me (esp in the past) knows that I used to love my soda! Anything Dr. Pepper in fact!!! But after numerous trips to the doctors and lots of testing I found out that the artificial sweeteners and colors were burning a hole in my esophagus and stomach. Instead of taking the recommended pills I decided to just cut out soda all together. Not easy for this soda drinking Queen, but I had to do it for my own health. So out went all the sodas (even the family suffered). For weeks I had withdrawal symptoms…… bloating, headaches, shakes, extreme cravings and sleepless nights….. I cant even imagine what it’s like for people trying to detox from worse addictions.

After a couple years off of soda I started looking into alternative drinks when I came across Zevia. Oh what a joy it was to have something to drink that didn’t cause me to grab my chest from burning….. BUT…… certain Zevia sodas that had the caramel color did have a mild effect on me *sigh*.  I still drank them but very limited. So when I opened my email back in May to see that Zevia was removing the caramel colors and making them Non-GMO I had to do the happy dance….. I can drink again :)

So kudos to the Zevia Team on removing caramel coloring from their sodas AND making them Non-GMO verified! You have made me a happy, drinking girl again.

P.S.
My family is delighted they can have soda again :)

Its that time of year where the ghosts and ghouls come out to play. To some, eating the traditional Halloween colored candy alone is enough to make you scream like Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” painting. But fret not….there is hope for those who are sensitive to those nasty artificial dye candies.

Below are some of the brands that we recommend:
